Bitumen Emulsion for Primer and Waterproofing

For waterproofing purposes, the bitumen emulsion can simply be sprayed on the considering surface such as the wall, roof, floor, pool, rest room, bath room and all surfaces we do not want to leak. No heating is needed and you just need to disperse it with a sweeper or sprayer and after about just 1 hour, it will break (unlike traditional bitumen).

Waterproofing

Asphalt emulsion may be sprayed directly on to concrete or earthen surfaces, or even on thatch or mud brick to form a waterproof finish.

CMS emulsion may be used at 1.0 to 1.5 lt/ m2, sprayed on as two to three coats.

For mud bricks, 2-3 % emulsion by weight is added to the straw and mud mixture to create a waterproof brick.

Roofing

A slurry of sand and Asphalt emulsion (SS1 or CMS )can be prepared to the desired consistency and troweled or painted onto the surface. These slurries can be used for minor crack filling (cracks to about 1-2mm width).

For large roof areas the emulsion may be sprayed as above and a layer of sand sprinkled on.

Allow 24 hours to dry.

Primer and waterproofing applications and facts:

  • Bitumen emulsion must be applied for 400 to 600 grams in the one-meter-square. If it becomes a cluster, we can spread it with a sweep or brush.
  • Bitumen emulsion needs only one hour for breaking, unlike traditional bitumen.
  • If the ambient temperature is higher than 50 centigrade, the bitumen remained from breaking of bitumen emulsion, we can add gravel or pebble in bitumen emulsion and mix them or add them on the remained bitumen.
  • The cost is very efficient.
