Bitumen Emulsion for Cold Mix

The asphalt surface of the roads can experience erosion, raveling, loss of aggregate,honeycombing, and sulphate attacks over time due to weather conditions such as frost, sunlight, heat, and also road salting, snow removal, as well as the effects of excessive loading and friction, especially caused by tire chains and snowplow blades. A mixture of CMS or CSS bitumen emulsion and aggregates which can be produced in plant or on site. It can be kept or transported in bulk packing or in a poly bag. Cold mix remains brown and ready for usage within 2 up to 4 months without heating when packed in jumbo bags.

Cold Mix applications and facts:

  • Suitable for temporary crack sealing that can even be used on the wet surface.
  • It is flexible, however, stable against climatic changes.
  • Cold Mix can be produced on-site or in the plant.
  • Only bitumen emulsion is proper for producing Cold Mix which sticks to the aggregates very well.
  • Completely environment-friendly during producing and paving process and no heating is required.
  • The traffic can pass on it after breaking process.
  • When producing Cold Mix, the aggregates must be washed free from dust. 0 to 3 mm aggregates must be removed to prevent the mix from being coagulated.
  • Cold Mix can be kept for 2 to 7 days in bulk packing or for 4 to 6 months in poly bags and it can be recycled either.
  • Cold Mix is the only choice for places far from hot mix asphalt plants.
  • Dust and oil must be cleaned off the cracks or holes.
  • Production and transportation processes are cost effective.

Bitomix Prepared Cold Mixed Asphalt:

This product is presented in 2 types of Bitumix B (Bitumix and materials for making sealing grout in the building) and Bitumix R to fill holes.

Filling holes and damaged asphalt surface are preventive priorities in especially autumn and winter because it leads to indirect financial damage on vehicles, water condensation, freeze and develop cracks and holes and consequently leads to subside underlying layers. Whiles, Bitumix R which is a polymer prepared cold asphalt with high preservation, will restore local destruction, reduce asphalt milling and laminating costs, increase asphaltic surface persistency and reduce the high cost of anew asphalt. The following new restrictions will be decreased through restoring (repairing) roads by Bitumix R.

  • Impossibility to use hot asphalt in cold weather conditions
  • Lack of technical and economic feasibility of hot asphalt transportation in long intervals and few amounts of which is required for filling holes.
  • Restrictions of blocking traffic to spread hot asphalt in passage net, according to increasing vehicles.

Bitumix R, is a combination of polymer emulsified bitumen and mountain materials with proper breakage. It is offered cold, with 6 months persistency and in 25 kg packages. Some of the advantages of this product are easy transportation through road restoration agents, suitable price, storage stability, possibility to spread on the wet surface without special equipment such as finisher and roller.
